If you were to walk into the house of just about any busy suburban family, you would probably find some unfinished business. In some houses you would have to look harder than others, but it would be there, maybe tucked away somewhere, out of sight. In other houses, you wouldn’t make it past the front door without finding it!
Here are some examples of unfinished business: The library books that have been sitting by the front door to go back to the library for 4 weeks The lawnmower sitting in the front yard where it cut off on Saturday, and now it [...]
After coming across a conversation on Facebook by one of my sister bloggers, Christine Wolf, talking about how exhausting all the driving kids around can be, I thought I would write a post with some tips to make the most of the car time. By the other comments on the thread, it was obvious that she was not alone in her sentiments.
So how can you make the most of your time in the car? Check out these 10 tips below:
1. Learn what is going on in the lives of your children and the lives of their peers. If [...]
A stitch in time saves nine…
We’ve all heard that saying. And we may even nod our head at it. Makes sense, right?
It really is true, though. When you have a small hole in something, if you sew it up right away it will save you from having to make a major repair later. Have you ever thought about how this can apply to other areas of your life?
Many times, because we are in a hurry, we put off doing the one stitch when we first see the issue, only to be plagued by a much bigger problem [...]
Want to hear these beautiful words? Make sure to listen through to the end…
Sometimes we long for an adventurous life. We want to throw caution to the wind and go with the flow. And in some occasions that may be a good thing, but for the most part, routines and habits can be a good thing. Having the important daily things on autopilot, if you will, gives you more time and more brain power for doing all those other exciting things, even if it is just playing Legos with your kids or taking a walk in the park.
10 things you should do every day*
1. Drink enough water. And be sure [...]
I hope you will grant me this deviation from my normal topics. I want to keep this short and sweet so here goes:
I have gone through some major changes in the past few months in my personal life, the biggest is a change in my marital status. As an inactive Mary Kay consultant, I have an abundance of perfectly good product to sell, and I seriously need the cash flow.
From now until the end of February, I am offering the products I have on hand at a 40% discount. No sales tax either. I can ship all [...]
Many of us started this new year off wanting to change something, wanting to do something different. Chances are though, most of us have not been as successful as we would have liked. The biggest reason people fail at creating and sticking to new habits is that they don’t keep doing it.
That seems obvious: if you don’t keep doing a habit, it won’t really become a habit. So what’s the solution to this obvious problem? Find a way to keep doing it.
When you look at it this way, the key to forming a habit is not how [...]
Many of us work in an endless stream of tasks, browser tasks, social media, emails, meetings, rushing from one thing to another, never pausing and never ending.
Then the day is over, and we are exhausted, and we often have very little to show for it. And we start the next day, ready for a mindless stream of tasks and distractions.
I am a fan of going against the stream of what most people do, and taking a step back. Is it really worth it? Is this the best way? Are we losing our lives to busy-ness and distraction?
What [...]
