I absolutely love avocado. I could eat it almost every day. The problem is, their shelf life isn’t very long, so they can go bad fairly quickly. I’d love to stock up when they are on sale for .99, but what would I do with a dozen avocados before they went bad?
That’s why I was excited to see that you can actually FREEZE avocado!
Deana, from The Pink Sugar Bowl, says to cut in half and seed, wrap very tightly with no air, and voila! It seems the very top layer will turn brown, but the inside is [...]
Sometimes we long for an adventurous life. We want to throw caution to the wind and go with the flow. And in some occasions that may be a good thing, but for the most part, routines and habits can be a good thing. Having the important daily things on autopilot, if you will, gives you more time and more brain power for doing all those other exciting things, even if it is just playing Legos with your kids or taking a walk in the park.
10 things you should do every day*
1. Drink enough water. And be sure [...]
One of the most stresseful areas of a mom’s day is figuring out what to feed her family for dinner. Sure there is always McDonald’s or Little Ceasar’s or even boxed macaroni-n-cheese. But those things can get old quick, plus they are expensive when you consider the actual nutrition you are getting from them.
I love to help moms in this area when I can. I have a Pinterest board Easy Meals for Busy Folks. I even have a post 10 easy meals for busy nights. So when I came across this cookbook by Tiffany King, I knew it [...]
Many people had ham for the holidays. I know we did. I froze the ham bone after we had carved most of the meat of, leaving some smaller bits and pieces. I wasn’t in the mood for cooking with ham after having so much of it. Today, however, I decided I would make a ham bone soup.
I scoured the internet for some recipes. After looking over some recipes I realized that you can really do whatever you want with your ham bone. Here are just a few simple suggestions of ingredients you could add:
potatoes beans pasta rice [...]
Most of us only have to look at our own waistline or hips to know that there is an epidemic of obesity in America, and much of the developed world. Yet we have at our disposal all the diet foods and reduced calorie foods we can imagine. There has also been a boom in the production and sales of 100 calorie snack packages of foods.
There are a few problems with these foods.
They are expensive per serving. They tend to be highly processed. If they are a low-fat refined wheat product, such as most of the ones in the [...]

Women LOVE chocolate. And I love chocolate. Not just milk chocolate or dark chocolate, but almost ALL things chocolate.
If I were to give in to that chocolate craving every time it hit, I would be as big as the side of a barn. Although some days I feel as though I am close to that!
What I have tried to do is come up with some reasonable chocolate items that I can have occasion and it won’t break the calorie bank. Below are 10 of my favorite:
1. Chocolate skim milk- I have always loved Nestle’s Quik! And [...]

Any of these things, or something similar may have applied to you:
You are going to the grocery store at 10 pm to get ingredients make brownies for your child’s class tomorrow. You wake up at 4 am to clean house because you are hosting a bible study at your house this morning. You snap at your husband when he asks what’s for dinner when you have spent all afternoon cooking for a friend who just had a baby. Your 4 year old asks you to read a story and you tell her that you are “too busy” right [...]
It seems that stuff and kids go together. You have kids and your stuff starts accumulating. And while you can put some limits on the stuff, and have rules on what makes it into the house, chances are that excess stuff will be a part of your life for a while.
The challenge for us moms then becomes how can we manage and organize all the stuff in our lives, and how can we do it in a way that everyone can easily maintain?
Luckily, due to Pinterest and several of my blogging friends, I have come up with some [...]
