Children bring so much joy to a parent’s life. With the pressure of bringing another life into the world, and nurturing that child into a mature responsible adult, there also comes an increased load of stress.
There is the long-term stress of “Am I raising my child right?” and “Will he ever grow up and be able to take care of himself?”
Day-to-Day Stress
And then there is the day-to-day stress. There are many things that contribute to the stress that a mom feels each and every day. Of course, some times that stress level seems off the chart [...]
Sometimes we long for an adventurous life. We want to throw caution to the wind and go with the flow. And in some occasions that may be a good thing, but for the most part, routines and habits can be a good thing. Having the important daily things on autopilot, if you will, gives you more time and more brain power for doing all those other exciting things, even if it is just playing Legos with your kids or taking a walk in the park.
10 things you should do every day*
1. Drink enough water. And be sure [...]

While sitting at dinner last week with a few women from our ladies group from church, our conversation flowed from methods of birth control, to being on the Dr. Oz show (one in the group was this past Friday, not aired yet!), to chocolate, to teaching little boys to hit the hole while peeing. There were a lot more turns of the conversation, and we sure enjoyed ourselves!
Since it has been a while since I potty trained a boy, (my son is almost 22 and my grandson that I potty trained is 12) it was funny to relive some [...]
Just in case you aren’t stressed out enough, here are 13 ways to make sure you can turn your stress level up to the MAX!
Don’t have any kind of plan for meals or grocery shopping. Figure out what’s for dinner at 7 pm each night. Don’t designate a specific place for your mail and bills. This will ensure that you have piles of papers all around your house, and you will have no idea where your bills are. Let coworkers pile their work on you. Be the go-to person in the office. Say yes to every request made by your church, [...]
I get that life is busy.
And I get that our children (and spouses and coworkers and parents) can interrupt our busy lives.
I encourage you to STOP and remember that your children, your spouse, you family are what’s important. And yes, your job is high up there too.
When you ARE interrupted, STOP what you are doing, LOOK them in the eye, and LISTEN to what they are saying.
Be sure to look into their eyes, get down on their level if you can.
Try your best to not interrupt them. Children, especially, are so full [...]
By now, everyone is back in school. While many of us are sad, some breathe a deep sigh of relief. Ahhh…
One thing that we ALL dread is that morning rush. The mad frenzy to make sure they have everything they need for the day, and that the kids are fed and dressed. And sending them off on a cheerful note would be nice as well!
A peaceful morning does not just happen by accident. It takes careful preparations and the creation of routines. And it also takes preparing much of what will be needed the night before.

Whew! Life has been a whirlwind around here the past few weeks! Talk about a STRESSED mom!!!
Let’s see, where do I begin?
Hubby was laid off in April. Has been doing some contract work, but no “secure” check or health insurance. Just a little stress here!
Youngest daughter is 19 and having a baby and she lives 3 hours away. Little baby boy is not supposed to be due until June 23rd, but he has been making his presence known, and she could go into labor at anytime. Oh, and did I mention that not only does she and [...]
