3 Ways to Use CBD for Post-Workout Recovery

Out of all of CBD’s benefits, the most well-known is probably its effect on inflammation and pain relief. The sports community has been embracing CBD for years with Olympic athletes like Lolo Jones and Gabby Douglas publicly singing its praises. CBD can work wonders for athletes that need to recover fast, or regular people who may want to relieve pain and accelerate the repair process after a tough workout session. Let’s take a look at how you can use CBD for post-workout recovery.

Add it to Your Post-Workout Meal

One of the most efficient ways to get relief after a workout with CBD is to ingest it. We’re not saying that you should eat a mouthful of fresh hemp after a workout. However, you can add a few drops of your favorite oil or tincture to your post-workout meal or shake. This method is great if you want long term relief, as the CBD will slowly be released into your system.

There are also more CBD edibles than we can count, so if you’re not too keen on the idea of adding oil to your food, you could try anything from CBD chocolate to cereals, depending on what’s more your speed. Or, if you’re the kind to go out for drinks after a workout, there are plenty of CBD infused beverages that would work great as mixers.

Rub it In

Applying CBD topically is also a great way to get relief. You might not get relief for as long as you would by ingesting the CBD, but you will get instant relief straight at the source. You can use regular CBD creams or CBD infused massage oil, for instance. You can also find CBD salves that are made from all sorts of different elements made to maximize the effects of the CBD. This could be a good option if you have joint issues or want to target a specific area.

Use Sublingually

This one is a good option if you need fast relief as well. But instead of targeting one part of the body, you’ll get whole body relief instead. Sublingual application is one of the most efficient ways to consume CBD and is commonly used in pharmacology for that reason.

To get the most effects, add the desired dose of CBD oil right under the tongue and let it sit for one minute at the very least. Note, though, that you’ll get better results the longer you wait. Once done, you can swallow the rest or wash it down. This is a great option, not only if you want full-body relief fast, but also if you need an instant sleep aid. You should start feeling the effects within 5 to 15 minutes following the application.

Before you try, know that the taste is definitely something you’ll need to get used to. However, the taste is much less pronounced with oils than it is with most tinctures.

These are just some of the ways that you can use CBD after working out to maximize recovery. We strongly suggest you give all of those a try and go for those that fit your style and needs the best.
