Things to make life better and easier

Sometimes we long for an adventurous life. We want to throw caution to the wind and go with the flow. And in some occasions that may be a good thing, but for the most part, routines and habits can be a good thing. Having the important daily things on autopilot, if you will, gives you more time and more brain power for doing all those other exciting things, even if it is just playing Legos with your kids or taking a walk in the park.

Just start: 6 tips to achieve a new habit

6 tips to achieve a new habit

Many of us started this new year off wanting to change something, wanting to do something different. Chances are though, most of us have not been as successful as we would have liked. The biggest reason people fail at creating and sticking to new habits is that they don’t keep doing it.

That seems obvious: if you don’t keep doing a habit, it won’t really become a habit. So what’s the solution to this obvious problem? Find a way to keep doing it.

When you look at it this way, the key to forming a habit is not how [...]

13 ways to stay stressed out

13 ways to stay stressed out

Just in case you aren’t stressed out enough, here are 13 ways to make sure you can turn your stress level up to the MAX!

Don’t have any kind of plan for meals or grocery shopping. Figure out what’s for dinner at 7 pm each night. Don’t designate a specific place for your mail and bills. This will ensure that you have piles of papers all around your house, and you will have no idea where your bills are. Let coworkers pile their work on you. Be the go-to person in the office. Say yes to every request made by your church, [...]

Good stress, bad stress

most of family

Whew! Life has been a whirlwind around here the past few weeks! Talk about a STRESSED mom!!!

Let’s see, where do I begin?

Hubby was laid off in April. Has been doing some contract work, but no “secure” check or health insurance. Just a little stress here!

Youngest daughter is 19 and having a baby and she lives 3 hours away. Little baby boy is not supposed to be due until June 23rd, but he has been making his presence known, and she could go into labor at anytime. Oh, and did I mention that not only does she and [...]

Helping moms take care of themselves

women talking over coffee

I love helping women. I love to help women in practical ways, in ways that will help them feel more peaceful and rested. To help them feel like they accomplished something. I also like to help women accept that it is okay if they DON’T get it ALL done. It is okay if they DON’T have it ALL together. And I like to let them know that they are not alone and MANY other women feel the same way.

I think that by admitting it and banding together, we can help one another be more comfortable in [...]

10 lighter ways to feed your chocolate cravings

chocolate-covered-strawberries-2

Women LOVE chocolate. And I love chocolate. Not just milk chocolate or dark chocolate, but almost ALL things chocolate.

If I were to give in to that chocolate craving every time it hit, I would be as big as the side of a barn. Although some days I feel as though I am close to that!

What I have tried to do is come up with some reasonable chocolate items that I can have occasion and it won’t break the calorie bank. Below are 10 of my favorite:

1. Chocolate skim milk- I have always loved Nestle’s Quik! And [...]

You know you say YES too much if…

Do you say yes way too much

Any of these things, or something similar may have applied to you:

You are going to the grocery store at 10 pm to get ingredients make brownies for your child’s class tomorrow. You wake up at 4 am to clean house because you are hosting a bible study at your house this morning. You snap at your husband when he asks what’s for dinner when you have spent all afternoon cooking for a friend who just had a baby. Your 4 year old asks you to read a story and you tell her that you are “too busy” right [...]

Moms, stress, and matters of the heart

the heart truth

Women are caretakers. Even in this 21st century when the woman has taken a greater role in being a breadwinner, she is STILL a caretaker at heart. She puts everyone else above her needs. If you read my blogs for long, you will know that I am an advocate for taking care of yourself too. Maybe even first. Because if you don’t take care of you, who will take care of everyone else?

February is National Heart month. More and more women are being diagnosed with, and even dying from heart disease.

Most of us know the important things [...]

tired woman drinking coffee

With everything that we as women have to take care of, we need all the energy boosting we can get. And it doesn’t need to come in the form of lattes of Red Bull or even 5 Hour Energy shots. And please, for the sake of your heart, stay away from Monsters and espresso double shots!
